Ever since Covid-19, the gyms have been closed. I wanted to purchase an heavy duty elliptical to do my workouts from home. I shopped around, read many reviews and ratings and ultimately purchased the Sole e98. Consumer Reports gives the e98 a rating of 76, with only one other rated higher at 77.
I chose the Sole e98 because I am 6’5″, a little heavy, and needed a rock solid elliptical. The elliptical is the one machine that my wife and I both used consistently at the gym. Logically the Sole e98 was the best bang for the buck. We have a good spin bike, but nowhere near as inviting as the Sole e98 Elliptical.
Sole prides itself on offering both quality and affordability. And the E98 is at the pinnacle. This light commercial grade elliptical competes with machines well over its price range.

The fact that this is “light commercial” was the selling point to go with this model. If you lived in an apartment complex that has a workout room, you would most likely see a machine similar to this. For home use, it’s almost “over the top” for us non-1%ers, but in high sight well worth spending the money for it. You get what you pay for!
It was frustrating to have to to wait 45 days for delivery. Sole said the additional wait time was due to Covid-19. The first thing I noticed at delivery was that this thing is heavy! So many parts to assemble, this is a big task. If you are not handy with this type of thing, consider hiring someone or recruiting a friend to help. I spent the next 2 hours assembling. Once it was together, and I tried it out, the Sole e98 totally exceeded my already high expectations.
It is very quiet and makes watching TV while working a reality without having to blast the TV volume. I typically put on the news, or an episode of whatever I’m binge watching and just go for it. Before I know it, 30 minutes or an hour have passed already and I’m done!
Day one, I just did 10 minutes and it just about killed me, I was so out of shape. Next day upped it by 5 minutes, then 10, and progressively added more time. I am doing 30 minutes on average sometimes going up to an hour.
My only wish is that it would disappear when I wasn’t using it. This thing is HUGE and takes up a lot of room. I keep this in my living room to encourage myself to keep using it and because it’s in front of my primary TV. There is no doubt when people visit that we have an elliptical, it’s front and center.
